For many years we did all of the VLC’s program materials including posters, email announcements, and printed programs. Most followed a simple template but occasionally we also did some special projects.

Sludgie the Whale was a baby whale that accidentally swam into the canal and a kind mascot for the canal. We created the Sludgie the Whale Scavanger Hunt in his honor. By going on the hunt you learn about the canal, why it’s so dirty, hoe they are cleaning up, and about the animals and plants that live here despite it being so dirty. A glow in the dark pin that renders a print by artist George Horner and Miguel Ayuso. Black Mayo is the official term for the 20 feet of toxic sludge at the bottom of the canal.
The Gowanus Monster Magnet
As a lover of maps we had a lot of maps at the shop and also made some ourselves. This map features a core number of historic buildings in Gowanus with short descriptions of the buildings history, and indications if the buildings were landmarked, at risk, or their fate yet undecided. The map comes as a print for display and as a small folded map. After some buildings were landmarked and others were torn down we manually updated the map with “SAVED” and “LOST” stamps. All building drawings were made by Vivian Baumann.
We have been designing the Runner & Stone annual staff t-shirts for the last two years.
An artist with a long career needed a way to get a quick overview and impression of her vast oeuvre. Keep in line with the artists approach we separated the site content into “images” and “text.” A timeless responsive html website that I still enjoy looking at.
The intention was to represent the feeling of this intimate project space for special art shows in Gowanus.

A website that serves as a archive for editor Sarah Crichton’s long career in the publishing world. It needed to give easy access to over 80 publications with all the relevant information, while at the same time emphasizing particular periods and books, and that lets the beautiful book covers shine.
A site to promote group and private contemporary art tours in New York City. This being a crowded field the site needed to really stand out and reflect the unique, immersive approach of these tours. The intention was also to encourage visitors to sign up for tours online.
The site needed to match the bold artwork and his love of the color orange, while at the same time giving quick and easy access to upcoming shows, a full archive of his work, and general info about the artist.
We have produced all print materials for the annual German Steuben Parade since we did their new website. This includes a postcard, poster, program, all digital assets and ads for print.
